Coco Bongo is a Las Vegas show, the Cirque del Soleil and a nightclub wrapped into one. State of the art lighting, sound and acrobatics punctuate the night. From the moment you walk in to Coco Bongo you will be surrounded by visual and audio stimulation. There is a 1 million dollar screen at the back of the stage and 40 people that dance and entertain you on a nightly basis. They even hire small people to change the sets between the 25 different shows nightly. The light and sound booth would rival anything on Broadway or in Vegas. Coco Bongo is an all inclusive club so all your drinks are included in the price. Do not plan anything for the next morning.
Mandala is the most popular, pure dance club, in Playa Del Carmen. With locations throughout Mexico, this club adds a bit of class to the nightlife. Located on 12 street it provide two levels of dance with a different DJ on each level. The service, and professionalism are what you would find in a New York style club. The rooftop sky terrace looks out over 12 street. and to the ocean. Top 40 music is found on the bottom level and dance on the sky terrace. You should go to Mandala at 11:30 pm to get the best seating as it gets busy every night.
Palazzo is owned by the Mandala group and offers Playa Del Carmen another up market place to be seen and to dance. This is the newest club in Playa Del Carmen and follows in the Mandala tradition of excellence. Palazzo offers something that Mandala can not, air conditioning. In the summer this is a nice offering. Located just down the street from Coco Bongo on 12, it is a nice night out. You should get to Palazzo by 12am. Palazzo is open from Thursday to Saturday.
The Blue Parrot is the oldest club in Playa Del Carmen. It is located on the beach at the bottom of 12 street. Newly renovated the Parrot has more than enough space. Dancing on the beach, the world famous fire show and the swing bar make this a perfect place to relax and enjoy the view in a beach setting.
La Santanara has a rooftop terrace playing minimal and deep house music in a stylish lounge atmosphere. Located below is a club playing trance and techno starting after 2am. A favourite with the locals and owned by a famous DJ you have a wide variety of DJ's flowing through this venue and its counterpart Cannibal Royal beach club.
